Nigerian international Afrrobeats singer, David Adeleke professionally called Davido has lauded junior colleague Rema for his colossal achievement.

Davido in a recent interview on his album ‘Timeless’ tour expressed how much Rema’s success has impacted on the Afrobeats genre.

He stated that Rema’s rise to stardom has made them all believe in miracles considering the Afrorave pioneer came to the music industry just a few years ago.

He said Rema has undoubtedly achieved what many who’s been in the game haven’t with his global hit song, “Calm down” which featured America’s Selene Gomez.

O.B.O. recounted how young Rema used to visit his house some years without him knowing he will attain such mammoth height in the global music industry within a short space of time.

He said: “A few years ago, Rema used to visit my house. He would simply sit on the couch and say nothing.

“Little did I know that he would go on to create the highest charting song in the history of Afrobeats. But it happened. 

“A few days ago, I saw him in New York and I couldn’t help but hug him tightly, expressing how proud I am of him.

“He has made us all believe in miracles”.

Born Divine Ikubor, the 22-year-old Rave lorde in a short span of time undoubtedly has imprinted his name in the world music history with the remix of his already global hit single  “Calm Down” which captured the heart of American singer, Selena Gomez who enthusiastically jumped on the remix.

“Calm Down” remix which has now grown to become a mega hit track and chart-topping song was released on August 25, 2022.

The song reached number one on both the Billboard US Afrobeats Songs and the Billboard Global Excl. US charts, and peaked at number three on the Global 200 chart. 

It peaked at number seven on the US Billboard Hot 100, marking Rema’s first top-ten hit and Gomez’s ninth.
