Manchester City striker, Erling Haaland, has been placed under investigation by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) for appearing to use his mobile phone while driving.
A video of the 22-year-old appearing to use the device while driving a £300, 000 Rolls Royce has emerged on social media.
The incident is believed to have happened on Wednesday, March 15, the day after the footballer scored five goals in City’s 7-0 victory against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.
A spokesperson for GMP said, “I can confirm that GMP is aware of the image and is investigating.”
Haaland could be fined £200 and receive six penalty points if found guilty. His driving licence could also be revoked if it was obtained within the last two years.
Haaland moved to Manchester City from Borussia Dortmund in the summer transfer window in a deal worth £51 million ($63m) and has been a huge hit in the Premier League.
The 22-year-old is the top scorer in the competition so far in 2022-23, having netted 28 times, and has a total of 42 goals for City in just 37 matches across all competitions in his debut campaign.
Haaland was due to link up with Norway during the international break but pulled out due to a groin injury, and it’s not clear if he will be fit to return to action when Manchester City faces Liverpool on Saturday.
