The convoy of Borno State governor, Babagana Zulum has been reportedly attacked in Kaleri community, Maiduguri, the State capital.
Three vehicles in the convoy were said to have been destroyed in the attack carried out by some irate youths on Thursday, February 23, 2023.
A report by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region said the governor was returning from Mafa, his hometown when the attack occurred.
Sources told Makama that vehicles conveying the press crew, the engineers as well as one other were smashed.
The incident comes barely a day before the Nigeria’s presidential election which is scheduled for Saturday, February 25.
Few days ago, irate youths attacked the campaign convoy of the governor’s wife, Hajiya Falmata Zulum in the axis of Dalori, in Konduga.
Eight vehicles were destroyed during the attack.
