Former Barcelona defender, Dani Alves, has been sent to jail without bail for alleged sexual assault.
The 39-year-old was taken into custody after an allegation was made against him on December 30, 2022.
The former Brazil international was at the Mossos d’Esquadra de Les Corts police station in Barcelona on Friday morning, to testify against the allegations.
He was then taken to the Ciutat de la Justicia, where he attended a court hearing.
The court decided to jail him without bail, while an investigation continues on the case.
Alves has denied the accusations made against him after the incident which is believed to have happened at a nightclub in Barcelona.
Pumas’ Leopoldo Silva made a statement about the club’s decision regarding Dani Alves’ imprisonment “Regarding the legal process that Daniel Alves is facing and for which he is being detained in Spain.
“We have determined the following: Club Universidad Nacional has made the decision to terminate the contract of player Daniel Alves as of this day,”
