The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has called for the review of allowances being paid to corps members during elections.
NYSC acting director general, Mrs. Christy Ifeyinwa Uba, made the request during a courtesy visit by the INEC chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Friday, January 6, 2022, in Abuja.
Uba stressed that the Corps members are eager to participate in the general elections.
On his part, Yakubu said the country cannot conduct conducive elections without the support of the corps members, especially now that new technology are deployed.
“NYSC are the most reliable and readily available, the largest number, and the youngest. We can not conduct elections without them, especially now that we are deploying technology. And they are tech-savvy,” he said.
Uba described the meeting as timely, stressing that NYSC is committed to the partnership with the Commission.
